I woke up extremely early this morning. Set 3 alarms with interval of 10 minutes each, to prevent myself from reentering my sweet fantasy world. First thing when I woke up was enter the kitchen and start busy preparing my lunch. Once my lunch was done and packed, a warm bath was taken.

It was snowing outside. 7am sharp I start my attempt to make today a day to remember during my stay in this city of Volgograd. I start walking in the snow to Morphacorpus. This building is where classes for Anatomy, Surgical Anatomy, Biology, Microbiology and so on are conducted. There is a museum in this building where students can get every single bone in our body for references and self revisions. I studied in this museum once, all alone by myself surrounded with all the parts of the human body. It sounds scary right? But the feeling was great. Most of the samples were made by students themselves. It sounds interesting right?

Walking in the dark with snow was a real experience. With the Jaguar leather shoes from my dad, I walk through the street with no fear. The right hand of mine was holding my lunch ration. Throughout the journey, I enjoy drinking the black tea I prepared in the mini bottle from my mum. Tea is a must for the local Russian in the morning. They can’t live without it. Just like Malaysian Teh Tarik?

Heat produced by my body trapped in my newly bought Adidas Supernova CLIMAPROOF. Sweating during this kind of weather is really good. Warm.

After 40 minutes of walking on the slippery and muddy road, finally I reached my destination. Kept my jacket, changed my second shoes and followed by Anatomy mass lecture. The lecture was very well conducted and the pen in my hand was having a marathon on the papers. It was like almost impossible for you to jot everything down. It was extremely fast.

I didn’t attend the Physical Training as I had a little sprain on my ankle again. Played volleyball with the Russian yesterday and it was indeed an experience to be remembered. I didn’t inform my parents on this but I know they will be reading my blog and find out about it. “Better late than never”

Spent my time in the library studying First Aid because my lecturer on this critical subject is just a junk. I don’t meant to be rude but the reality speaks. We had grown up and it’s good to be independent sometimes. I had 3 high productivity hours today.  

Five dollars for a Five years old

A woman came home from work late, tired and irritated, to find her 5-year old son waiting for her at the door.

SON: 'Mummy, may I ask you a question?'
MUM: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the woman.
SON: 'Mummy, how much do you make an hour?'
MUM: 'That's none of your business. Why do you ask such a thing?' the woman said angrily.
SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?'
MUM: 'If you must know, I make $20 an hour.'
SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head down.
SON: "Mummy, may I please borrow $5?"

The mother was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish frivolities.'

The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door...


The woman sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?


After about an hour or so, the woman had calmed down, and started to think:

Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that $5 and he really didn't ask for money very often.The woman went to the door of the little boy's room and opened the door.

'
Are you asleep, son?' She asked.


'No Mummy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.

'
I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier' said the woman. 'It's been a long day and I took out my aggravation on you. Here's the $5 you asked for.'

The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank you Mummy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.


The woman saw that the boy already had money, started to get angry again.

The little boy slowly counted out his money, and then looked up at his mother.

'Why do you want more money if you already have some?' the mother grumbled.

'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the little boy replied.


'Mummy, I have $20 now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.'


The mother was crushed. She put her arms around her little son, and she begged for his forgiveness.


It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts. Do remember to share that $20 worth of your time with someone you love ♥

Grateful and Thankful

There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she was blind.
She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend.
He was always there for her.
She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend.
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend.
Her boyfriend asked her, " now that you can see the world, will you... marry me? "
The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused to marry him.
Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying: "Just take care of my eyes dear."

This is how human brain changes when the status changed.
Only few remember what life was before, and who's always been there even in the most painful situations.

Today before you think of saying an unkind word think of someone who can't speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your husband or wife think of someone who is crying out to God for a companion.
Today before you complain about life think of someone who went too early to heaven.

A Letter from Mom and Dad

My child,

When I get old, I hope you understand and have patience with me

In case I break a plate, or spill soup on the table because I am losing my eyesight,

I hope you don’t yell at me.

OLDER PEOPLE are sensitive.

…… Always having self pity when you yell.

When my hearing gets worse and I can’t hear what you are saying,

Bio transaction

People used to say time flies, now you may realize where you are, but in another moment you will not be in the same place again. I learn and understand these words through my personal experience.

It had been slightly more than a month living in this land, far away from home. The feeling is great to have this unimaginable opportunity on you. Of course with huge and heavy responsibilities as well. Not forgetting the hopes and faith people have and put on you. I would say it is not too hard and not so easy though.

1^st month here is just amazing. You got to experience so much different and unexpected things. Not to mention alien stuffs as well. An important process is running now, what we call adaptation. There are plenty of things that we have to adapt and acclimatize fast here in Volgograd, the City of Heroes.

Life as a medical student is just out and beyond your imagination. Things just turn better when you are in Russia. Everything is contradiction as what it is in Malaysia. Anyway, contradictions made me to compare and analyze better.

My first reaction when received the study schedule was like WOW. Medical school’s WOW effects. Daily class at average started around 8.30am and ended around 5.00pm. 6 studying days in a week which equal to only 1 free day. The only day for you to do whatever you want to do in that week, at the same time thinking about the preparation for classes on the following day. So, in conclusion you just got to work things out in whatever way you figured out to catch up with everything happening around you.

Basically our condition is slightly better compare to a Houseman, a little worse than a normal student. 

“The ugly truth”

Classes are just as NORMAL as it is, as how the pictures came to you when we speak about classes in university. Plus some mass lectures which are conducted on some subjects only.

My group, Group 31 consist of 7 future doctors with the ratio of 3M:4F. We knew each other since INTEC. This will continue till we graduate and officially enter the medical field together hopefully. This friendship will never be the same. Not forgetting other sponsored students of my batch and seniors.

To ensure the brain functioning and performing constantly at its best performance, we got to get the best fuel for it. After head aching classes, time for dinner preparation. This is the field where we had some fun out of all the seriousness from the whole day. High creativity is required. I really enjoy it so much. I never find the kitchen full of fun before. I admit that I am not a good cook, but I am glad that I have such opportunity here. Where I can brush up and learn some skills of cooking. At the same time upgrade myself to become a better person. 

“A man is different if he can do well in kitchen”

Marketing is not so challenging. You just got to try everything and find out about them. Try every single thing that came to your shopping list as nothing to be afraid of. Learn through experience. 

“When you learn through the hard way, you just got to be stupid first and clever after”

Basically, I am on a huge learning process where I learn many things from many different sources. My grandaunt told me before, “You grow up the next day when you live in oversea” I find this sentence so true now. I see things differently now, in some other perspectives. I am no more the old me.  

I take this learning process positively. Water it everyday and wait for the moment to arrive where I can ripe these fruits one day. This very day has a huge distance from me and I am getting one step closer and closer day by day. I may not know when it is but I know it will come one day.

Hopes and Dreams

I had been waiting for this moment for such a long time and finally this long waiting period comes to an end, where the next chapter of my life begins to unfold.

My family members were very supportive to me. All of them came to the airport to send me of. My Lok Ku Phor even flew all the way from Australia. I feel grateful to have this bunch of people around me all the time. Constantly providing and nourishing me with everything I need. 

This is the main factor why it is so heavy for me. Hiding your emotion is a real challenge. Putting this tough feeling aside and look into the future is a better solving method. Looking at this transition of life is so meaningful, mix with some emotional challenge.

MH002 from KLIA to London Heathrow Airport. The whole journey took me around 13 Hours and had a nice chit chat session with a Malaysian student from Penang. She is currently doing A-level in one of the college situated in London. Born with a silver spoon in her mouth.

6 Hours of transit in Heathrow is a golden opportunity to have a preview of the English society. Stepping on England’s land is a great feeling. It rather be interesting than getting bored waiting for the next flight to Moscow.

First footstep in Moscow indeed is another indescribable feeling. The weapon of survival – Russian Language. Had the first conversation with the immigration officer. Very good and awesome first impression to me. Security level in the Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport is real tight.

Rushed all the way to make it to the next boarding gate for the final flight to Volgograd. The first bad impression came to me when the air stewardess on board not being so helpful to foreign passengers. The rain in Volgograd welcomed our presence on this City of Heroes.

The airport of Volgograd is just incomparable with their International Airport. Be positive. How often will I be using this one belted airport? Seniors were there to assist us. They carried our bags and luggages into the bus. An early breakfast was also prepared to fill in the empty stomach of us. It feels so much at home. Thanks again.
